Dustin’s Story

Submitted by Dustin

“I was in a truly hopeless state. I came from a family of addicts. I thought it was just in my blood to lead a life of addiction. When at the end my thinking was so messed up and dark, I believed that dying was the only way I was going to get freedom from addiction. Dying seemed like the only way. Thank God somehow, someway I ended up at rehab and not the morgue. I had never tried to get clean before going to treatment. It changed my life, treatment gave me the clarity and strength to walk out the door and face the world. But they didn’t send me alone. They introduced me to a group of people who understood me, I finally found people who I could identify with and who could identify with me. I found a fellowship to be a part of. I’ve never looked back. Still clean and still a member of that fellowship going on 14 yrs clean. I’m so grateful that now I have the freedom that I once thought only death could bring. It’s a good day to be clean.”
